Did Jesus prophecy about Mohammad

Did Jesus prophecy about Mohammad?
In this article, I will refute the common assertion made by the Muslims that Jesus spoke about Mohammad John14:16, John 15:26 & John 16:7.

Muslims say that the "original" text probably had the word "perikletos" which has the same meaning as "Ahmed".

Again, this a mere statement. There is no factual evidence that the original text contained the word "perikletos".All the Greek manuscripts have the word "parakeltos" which means "Helper" or "Comforter" which doesn't match with "Ahmad"

On the other hand, Christians have always maintained that this is a prophecy about the Holy Spirit. However, Muslims claim that this is not true since the Holy Spirit was already there at the time of Jesus.

Again, they are partly right. We believe the Holy Spirit to be Divine and He was there since time immemorial (Genesis 1:1-2) .However, in times before Jesus, the Holy Spirit was given to only specific people chosen by God to perform a particular task.

But there is a prophecy in the Old testament which says:

Joel 2
28 "And afterward,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your old men will dream dreams,
your young men will see visions

According to this prophecy, there will come a time when the Holy Spirit will be given to every believer, not only to specific people. And the Bible also tells us when this prophecy was fulfilled.Read Acts chapter 2

16 No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel

In fact, Jesus Himself had said clearly that the Holy Spirit was going to come:

John 8
38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”39 By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.

Acts 1
4On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised,  which you have heard me speak about. 5For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit."

8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

So the claim that this prophecy is not about the Spirit is completely erroneous.

On the other hand, let's see if Mohammad matches the description of this "comforter":

1) He will live with the disciples forever

John 14
16And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever—

Did Mohammad live forever?

2) The world cannot see Him

17the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

Was the Prophet invisible??

3) He would be with the disciples who were with Jesus

17the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him,  for he lives with you and will be in you.

Jesus was speaking to His own followers. The Comforter was to come to them as well.Since Mohammad came 600 years later, how can he be the Comforter?.

4) Jesus will send Him and He will come out of the Father

John 15
26"When the Counselor comes,  whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father,  he will testify about me

Not two things here.Jesus will send this comforter. If this comforter is Mohammad, and Allah sent Him, then what does that make Jesus?!

Secondly, this comforter will proceed from the Father.Mohammad neither believed God to be the Father nor did he come out of God, right?.So how can he be the comforter??

5) The Comforter will take everything from Jesus

John 16
14He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you. 15All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you

So if Mohammad only recited what Allah gave him, then again, what does that make Jesus?!

So think about these points.

God Bless You.
